Terms and Conditions for Sellers of Mankkaan Aarrearkku
Terms and Conditions
1. General Information and Items Accepted for Sale
– Our store accepts clean, undamaged, stain-free, and seasonally appropriate clothing for children, teenagers, and adults, as well as shoes, toys, baby essentials, and small quantities of other items, provided they are not included in our list of prohibited products (see below). We also sell handmade and home-sewn items, along with professionally repaired clothing.
– Item Selection: Our store reserves the full right to select which items are accepted for sale and to exclude unsuitable products (such as worn-out, stained, or non-compliant items) without prior notice in order to maintain our quality standards. Aarrearkku may, on a case-by-case basis, offer to purchase items that have not been accepted for sale or remain unsold. You also always have the option to donate unsold items to charity and send damaged or stained textiles for textile recycling.
– Prohibited Items:
- Counterfeit products
- Ultra-fast-fashion items and products purchased from fast-fashion giants or low-cost import platforms (such as Temu, Shein, AliExpress, or Alibaba)
- Broken or damaged items
- Toys without CE marking
- Textiles that may pose a pest infestation risk
- Alcohol, drugs, and other intoxicating substances
- Weapons and bladed weapons
- Adult entertainment products are strictly prohibited.
Important: If an item contains pests or shows clear signs of pest damage, it will be destroyed immediately to prevent further damage or infestation.
2. Reservations and Payments
– Booking or Initial Fee (if applicable): Payable at the time of booking. This fee is non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled less than 7 days before the selling period begins.
– Package Fees and Commission (if applicable): Package fees (weekly, full-service, and any other available package types) and the agreed commission are automatically deducted from your actual sales revenue at the end of the selling period.
What Does the Package Fee Cover?
The weekly package fee is a fixed charge that covers the essential work required for every selling period, regardless of how many items are sold.
– Setup and Reservations: Administration of the booking system, payment processing, and communication with sellers.
– Daily Store Operations: Keeping the store clean and organized, maintaining clothing racks and display tables, operating the checkout, and providing general store facilities.
– Product Visibility: Featuring your items in themed store displays and on social media, actively promoting products in-store, responding to customer inquiries across various channels, and accepting reservations.
– Security: Our store is equipped with video surveillance, and we position higher-value items in areas where they can be kept as secure and well-monitored as possible. You may also purchase additional security tags or reserve a lockable glass display cabinet for your most valuable items. Please check our current price list for available options.
– End-of-Period Services: Packing items for collection or arranging for further processing or charitable donations when the selling period ends.
What Does the Sales Commission Cover?
The sales commission is calculated as a percentage of your sales revenue. It covers the additional work involved in handling items based on their quantity and value.
The commission is deducted from actual sales revenue and reflects the fact that higher-value, larger, or more numerous items generally require more time, effort, and display space.
– More Items Mean More Organization: The more clothing and other items you bring, the more time we spend arranging, hanging, organizing, and maintaining them on a daily basis.
– Full-Service and Premium Packages: For full-service and any premium packages, the commission also covers the additional work involved in evaluating and pricing your items.
– Better Visibility for Valuable Treasures: Higher-value items and quality collections deserve the best window displays, clothing rack positions, and themed promotional features. We invest additional effort in sales promotion and social media marketing to ensure your most valuable items receive the attention they deserve!
– Responsibility and Payment Processing: The commission also covers the additional responsibility associated with selling higher-value items, debit and credit card processing fees at checkout, and transaction costs related to paying out your earnings.
3. Pricing and Bringing Items to the Store
– Weekly Packages / Self-Pricing Packages: Sellers enter their own prices into our system and securely attach the price labels. Detailed instructions and conditions for each package are provided at the time of purchase.
– Price Labels: All price labels must be printed at our store and attached to the items there. We cannot accept handwritten price labels.
– Secure Attachment: Price labels must be firmly attached to each item. The store is not responsible for items whose price labels have come off and which can no longer be identified. If necessary, labels may be secured with adhesive tape. If an item’s shape or material makes it difficult to attach a label, or you prefer not to stick a label directly onto the item, please contact our staff.
– Recommended Product Descriptions: We recommend including the product category, brand, size, and any relevant additional information, such as special materials, patterns, colors, signs of wear, or whether the item is handmade.
Examples:
- “Dress, Lindex, Size 116, Paw Patrol”
- “Outdoor Trousers, Reima, Size 98, Unused”
– Full-Service Package: Sellers bring their items in bags or boxes, and our staff takes care of sorting, pricing, labeling, and displaying them. Detailed instructions and conditions are provided when purchasing the package. With the full-service option, you may also include notes if you would like a particular item to be priced at a specific amount or have other special requests.
– Other Available Packages: Detailed instructions and conditions for any additional packages are provided at the time of purchase.
– Item Limits per Selling Period: Please pay attention to the maximum number of items included in your package. Current fees for additional items are always stated during checkout and on our website. You’re welcome to bring more than the included number of items, but a small additional fee will apply.
– Discounts: Before the end of each selling period, we reduce all item prices by 50% and move them to our discount rack. For one-week packages, discounts are applied during Friday. For longer packages, discounts may be applied slightly earlier.
– Price Changes: If you wish to change an item’s price after it has been submitted, please contact us. All price label changes must be handled by our store staff.
– The Story Behind an Item: Buyers love stories! If one of your items has a special story, you can write it on one of our Story Tags available in the store. This allows the item’s story to continue with its new owner or provides useful information that isn’t included in the product description or price label. Please use Story Tags only for carefully selected items.
Examples of Stories That Buyers Might Enjoy
“This snowsuit was our family’s absolute favorite throughout last winter! It kept our little one warm even in freezing temperatures, and not once did the water get through. Our toddler loved wearing it and we hope it brings your family just as much joy!”
“We must have read this bedtime story at least a hundred times! The animal characters were our three-year-old’s absolute favorites and always helped them fall asleep with a smile.”
“This sweater was lovingly knitted using high-quality merino wool yarn discovered in Grandma’s attic. A truly one-of-a-kind piece that will keep your little adventurer warm!”
4. No Standard Return Rights & Optional Buyer Services
As a general rule, second-hand items purchased at our flea market cannot be exchanged or returned.
Throughout the selling period, the items remain the property of the seller, who is responsible for their condition.
However, we offer buyers an optional paid service called Additional Protection Return Option (Lisäturva), which allows customers to return an item to the store within 7 days.
This additional service is offered entirely at the store’s own responsibility and risk.
Even if a customer returns an item, the seller’s earnings remain unchanged. Returned items will not be deducted from the seller’s payout.
Other Important Information
– Interruption of Store Operations: If the store is forced to suspend operations or close temporarily (for example, due to serious property damage, official orders, or illness), the store is not liable for sales that could not take place. Where possible, rental periods will be extended accordingly.
– Items Found Without Price Labels: Items found without price labels are moved to the store’s designated Lost & Found Rack. Our staff will do their best to identify the items and print replacement labels when identification is certain. However, this is not always possible.
Sellers are responsible for checking the Lost & Found Rack at the end of their selling period.
Items without price labels are stored for 7 days. After this period, they become the property of the store.
4. Responsibilities and Security
– The store makes every reasonable effort to protect and monitor items offered for sale. However, the store is not responsible for stolen, lost, or damaged items, including damage caused by customers or accidental breakage. The store is also not liable for damage resulting from exceptional circumstances, such as fire or water damage.
– We recommend using security tags or reserving a glass display cabinet for higher-value items. Please check our current price list for available options.
– Item Drop-Off Deadline: Sellers are responsible for bringing their items to the store no later than 6 opening days before their selling period begins, allowing us sufficient time to prepare them.
Your booking confirmation email will inform you when you can start dropping off your items.
In some cases, we may put your items on sale well before your official selling period begins, giving them additional selling time at no extra cost!
5. End of Selling Period and Item Collection
– Assisted Self-Service: Clothing racks and displays will be cleared no earlier than one hour before closing time on the final opening day of your selling period. We may, at our discretion, extend your selling period free of charge.
As your selling period approaches its end, we’ll send you an email explaining your options for unsold items and any products that were not accepted for sale.
– Full-Service Package: The store will pack unsold items for collection no earlier than one hour before closing time on the final opening day of your selling period. We may, at our discretion, extend your selling period free of charge.
As your selling period approaches its end, we’ll send you an email explaining your options for unsold items and any products that were not accepted for sale.
– Unsold Items: At the end of your selling period, you can choose to:
- Collect your items and take them home.
- Accept a purchase offer from the store, if one has been made.
- Donate your items to charity through our store.
– Uncollected Items: Items that have not been collected within 7 days become the property of the store, unless a different arrangement has been agreed upon before the 7-day deadline expires.
6. Sales Payouts
– Payment of Earnings: Your sales earnings will be transferred to your designated bank account within 7 business days after your selling period ends, once your selling space has been checked.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their bank account details are correct. Incorrect banking information may delay payment.
– Cash Payouts: If you would prefer to receive your earnings in cash, please contact the store by email at least 3 business days before your selling period ends.
